  3. This application is part of the CyberCash Secure Internet 
  4. Payment Service and is one of the most secure networked 
  5. financial systems available today.

  7. Version 0.8.2 of our Client Application enables you to 
  8. securely conduct credit card purchases over the Internet. 
  9. In later releases, we will be introducing the ability to 
  10. make Money Payments in addition to credit.

  12. The CyberCash Client Application User's Guide is accessible 
  13. from http://www.cybercash.com.

  16. software. We are aware that early releases of a system may be

  27. CyberCash will be periodically upgrading this software. Every 
  28. time you conduct a transaction, we will check the version of 
  29. software you are using.  If your software has expired, you 
  30. will be informed that you need to download a new version.

  32. VERSION 0.7 ALPHA TEST USERS ONLY:
  33. ==================================
  34. Version 0.7 has expired.  If you established a CyberCash 
  35. Persona using Version 0.7 of the CyberCash Client Application, 
  36. you will need to establish your Persona again and link your 
  37. credit cards again using Version 0.8.2.  You may use the same 
  38. CyberCash ID.

  40. VERSION 0.7.1 AND 0.7.2 ALPHA TEST USERS ONLY:

  42. Versions 0.7.1 and 0.7.2 have also expired. However, your 
  43. CyberCash Personas and credit cards linked to your Persona are 
  44. still valid for Version 0.8.2.  When you log into your Persona 
  45. for the first time using Version 0.8.2, the application will 
  46. advise you that a data conversion is required to continue.  
  47. You must allow the application to convert your data files in 
  48. order to use already established Personas.  The time required 
  49. to convert your data is very short.

  51. VERSION 0.8.0 AND 0.8.1 BETA TEST USERS ONLY:

  53. Your CyberCash Personas are still valid for Version 0.8.2.  
  54. When you log into your Persona for the first time using Version 
  55. 0.8.2, the application will advise you that a data conversion is 
  56. required to continue.  You must allow the application to convert 
  57. your data files in order to use already established Personas.  
  58. The time required to convert your data is very short.

  60. TCP/IP STACKS:

  62. For the CyberCash Client Application to work properly, a 
  63. system-wide, third party TCP/IP communications stack that 
  64. is WINSOCK 1.1 compliant must be installed on your system.

  80. The following Web Browers have been tested with the CyberCash 
  81. Client Application and are supported in Version 0.8.2:

  94. During the setup process, if any of the above browsers are 
  95. found on your system, the .INI file will be updated to use the 
  96. CyberCash Client Application as the viewer/helper application for 
  97. "Pay With CyberCash" requests.  Before any .INI file is updated, 
  98. the original .INI file will be backed up to a .CYB file.  For 
  99. example, emosaic.ini will be copied to emosaic.cyb before it is 
  100. modified.

  102. You may also use "Setup Web Browers" from within the Client 
  103. Application to setup any of the supported browsers after the 
  104. Client Application is installed.

  106. CyberCash is actively pursuing support for additional browsers in 
  107. future versions.

  109. USING UNSUPPORTED WEB BROWSERS:
  110. ===============================
  111. If you would like to try an unsupported browser, you may setup 
  112. the CyberCash Client Application as a viewer/helper application 
  113. yourself.  Each browser has a different user interface to do this, 
  114. but the following information is essential:
  115.  
  116.         File Type:      application
  117.         Mime Type:      x-cybercash
  118.         Suffix:         .cym
  119.         Application:    cyber.exe (This file is in the directory 
  120.             specified during the setup process.)
  121.  
  122. Unsupported browsers may or may not work with the CyberCash Client 
  123. Application.  
  124.  
  125. NOTE:  The CyberCash Client Application will not work with Web 
  126. Browsers that contain their own TCP/IP stack.  CyberCash is pursuing 
  127. options to support products like these for future releases.

  129. ABOUT THE SOFTWARE:

  131. In order to take advantage of the CyberCash service, users must 
  132. install the free CyberCash software and establish a CyberCash 
  133. Persona.  By installing the software, you agree to the terms of the 
  134. software license and user agreement displayed at the time of password 
  135. selection and activation.  Establishing a CyberCash Persona will allow 
  136. you to use your credit cards with all Internet merchants who offer 
  137. the CyberCash service.

  139. WHAT IT COSTS:  
  140. ==============
  141. There is no cost to you for the CyberCash software, and CyberCash 
  142. does not impose any additional fees on credit card users for taking 
  143. advantage of the CyberCash service. Fees for the CyberCash credit card 
  144. service are paid by merchants as part of their standard credit card 
  145. transaction costs.

  147. PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY: 
  148. ============================
  149. CyberCash believes strongly in protecting the privacy of your financial 
  150. information. This software will encrypt the data regarding your credit 
  151. card so that it can be safely transmitted over the Internet and to your 
  152. financial institution. CyberCash will also not voluntarily reveal any 
  153. information about you or your transactions to anyone other than the 
  154. merchant and financial institution(s) involved in processing the 
  155. transaction. But the CyberCash service covers only the financial aspect 
  156. of your transaction (credit card number, name, expiration and amount of 
  157. transaction); other information you may send over the Internet, even to 
  158. the merchant with whom you are dealing, is not part of the CyberCash 
  159. service, and will not be encrypted, received or stored by CyberCash.
